Shawn B. Beckett

Senior Vice President of Public Affairs

Shawn Beckett specializes in guiding organizations through complex policy and regulatory environments. With experience at the most senior levels of Ontario government, he understands how decisions are made and how to position clients for success when navigating high-stakes political and multi-stakeholder files.

Most recently, Shawn served as Executive Director of Policy, Digital & Strategic Resources in the Office of the Premier of Ontario. In this role, he managed the government’s strategic policy planning process for its third mandate and oversaw policy development across a wide range of priority portfolios, including mining and critical minerals, technology and artificial intelligence, justice and legal affairs, Indigenous affairs, northern development, agriculture, and gaming and liquor regulation.

Shawn played a central role in overseeing the development of Ontario’s first artificial intelligence legislation, directing the Premier’s Office strategy on Ring of Fire development, and advancing bail reform through expanded police training and the use of new technologies. His work required close coordination between ministries, stakeholders, industry leaders, and political decision-makers, balancing economic growth, regulatory oversight, and public accountability.

Earlier in his career, Shawn project-managed the legislative passage of Ontario’s post-COVID long-term care reforms. He has also served as campaign manager for two successful Ontario PC campaigns and contributed to multiple federal and provincial efforts, bringing a practical understanding of political strategy and electoral dynamics to his advisory work.

Shawn holds an Honours Bachelor of Science (with Distinction) from Trinity College at the University of Toronto and has pursued further studies at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business (MBA).

Outside the office, Shawn is a DJ who regularly spins across Toronto. He is known for his ability to read a room — a skill that serves him equally well in government, where timing, tone, and strategy are everything.

Being effective in this business requires hard-earned perspective, a keen eye for policy, a quick wit and a relentless work ethic. Laryssa sees the play develop and will put you in a great position to get competitive results.
